THE PROPER STEPS TO SHAVE AT HOME

THE PROPER STEPS TO SHAVE AT HOME

1. Soften your hair

This may be accomplished by taking a hot shower or bath before shaving, since this softens the beard and opens the pores, decreasing the hair's hold. If this isn't possible, put a hot cloth to your face for at least 2 and a half minutes to produce the same effect.

2. Shaving oil/pre-shave cream for sensitive skin

It will give an extra layer of lubrication to protect your skin if you have very sensitive skin. It's also good for softening the beard and preparing it for shaving. To get the most out of it, let it soak in for at least a minute before applying your lather.

3. Lathering

To boost volume, add a drop of water at a time as the lather builds. The key is to only utilize the tips of the brush hairs and not to push so hard that the bristles completely splay out. A side-to-side motion might also be used. You should have a creamy, meringue-like lather at the end.

4. Rub all over the hairy bits

For a moderate exfoliation and to prime the hairs for shaving by lifting them up, rub the brush all over the hairy portions of your face (avoid eyebrows) in a circular motion.

Dip the tip of the brush in water (or add a drop or two to the bowl) and try again if the lather is still too dry and not creamy. This can vary depending on the hardness of the water and the type of soap used, so just keep adding a little water and try again until you get a rich, creamy lather.

5. Warm the razor & gently shave

Warm your razor in the sink or under a hot running tap before using it (should feel pleasantly hot to the touch). This makes it easier for it to glide across the skin.
Shave your face gently in the direction of hair growth, holding the handle between the tips of your thumb, middle, and index fingers.

6. Closer shave

You can then repeat the process in the opposite direction and lastly against the growth, however, this is not suggested for individuals with delicate skin or beginners because it can create razor burn and ingrown hairs. To limit the risk of discomfort and ingrown hairs, we attack from various angles before going against the grain.

7. Post-shave

Remove any stray particles of lather and clipped hairs by rinsing your face in warm water, then rinse your face in clean cold water to close your pores. Finally, apply a post-shave product such as balm or gel to soothe and protect the skin.
